About Hotel Jaisalmer Excellency

Hotel Jaisalmer Excellency is built for travellers whose trip has a schedule. Contemporary rooms with efficient layouts, dependable air-conditioning and power backup, high-speed WiFi throughout, and a full-service restaurant that opens early enough for a 6 AM departure and stays open late enough for a delayed arrival.

The property's conference and banquet space serves corporate meetings, training programmes, dealer conferences and government events, with projection, seating configuration and catering handled in-house. For tour operators and group leaders, the combination of standardised rooms, buffet dining that can serve a full coach at once, and coach-capable parking removes the friction that group travel usually involves.

Leisure travellers get the benefit of that same reliability. Rooms are consistent rather than characterful, and service is prompt. The travel desk arranges the full spread of Jaisalmer experiences — desert camp nights at the Sam Sand Dunes, camel and jeep safaris, private day circuits to Kuldhara and Bada Bagh, and the longer border run to Longewala and Tanot Mata.

  • Conference and banquet facilities on site
  • Multi-cuisine restaurant with buffet capability
  • Power backup and high-speed WiFi
  • Coach and group parking available
  • Consistent, modern room standards

Business and Group Travel in Jaisalmer

Jaisalmer's tourism reputation overshadows a steady stream of working travel — government and defence-related visits given the border proximity, solar and wind energy projects across the district, trade in stone and handicrafts, and a growing volume of corporate offsites and dealer conferences drawn by the destination's novelty. What these travellers need differs from what a honeymooning couple needs: consistent rooms, working WiFi, punctual food service, invoicing, and parking that fits a coach.

Running a Corporate Offsite in the Desert

Jaisalmer works unusually well for offsites because the reward is built into the geography. Meetings run in the morning, the group rests through the afternoon heat, and the evening moves to the Sam Sand Dunes — jeep safaris across the dunes, a bonfire, Manganiyar folk musicians and dinner under open sky. Teams remember that evening long after they've forgotten the presentation. The logistics are straightforward with a single operator handling rooms, meeting space, coaches and the camp booking together.

Group Sightseeing That Works

For groups of thirty or more, the efficient Jaisalmer circuit is a single westward run: Bada Bagh for photographs, Kuldhara's abandoned village for the story, the Jaisalmer War Museum for the 1971 Longewala account, then the Sam Sand Dunes for sunset and the camp programme. It fits one day, one set of vehicles, and gives a group the fort, the heritage and the desert without backtracking. See our group tour guide for how we quote larger bookings. Add a second day for the fort and haveli trail if the schedule allows.

The Border Day for Institutional Groups

Defence-adjacent and educational groups frequently add the border circuit — the Longewala War Memorial, 120 km northwest, where roughly 120 soldiers held off an armoured assault through the night of 4–5 December 1971, and the Tanot Mata Temple, maintained by the BSF and famous for the 1965 and 1971 shells that fell around it without exploding. It's a full day out, requires valid photo ID for every participant, and is consistently the most moving part of the itinerary.

Seasons and Scheduling

October to March suits every kind of travel here. Conference organisers should note that late January and early February bring the Desert Festival, when the city's entire room inventory is consumed — excellent if you want your delegates to experience it, impossible if you haven't booked far ahead. Summer conferences are viable indoors at substantially lower rates, but outdoor components should be dropped or moved to after sunset, when the new wave of night tourism — stargazing sessions and evening dune visits — offers a workable alternative.

Practical Booking Notes for Organisers

Fix meal plans and headcounts in writing, including vegetarian and Jain requirements, which are common in Rajasthan group travel. Confirm whether rates include taxes and what the GST treatment is. Build slack into arrival logistics: Jaisalmer's train services concentrate at awkward hours and flight capacity is limited, so a group of forty rarely arrives together. And schedule a rest window between arrival and the first session — the dry heat and long journey affect people more than they anticipate.
