Hotel Garh Adhiraj
Jaisalmer City
Hotel Adhiraj is the kind of property travellers recommend quietly: nothing dramatic, everything working. Rooms are modern, well sized and genuinely clean, with effective air-conditioning, proper mattresses, hot water on demand and WiFi that holds a video call. Housekeeping is consistent and the front desk is staffed around the clock.
The in-house restaurant serves Indian, Chinese and Continental dishes with Rajasthani specialities on request, and room service runs through the evening — useful after a long desert day when nobody wants to go out again. The travel desk handles the standard requirements: Sam Sand Dunes camp bookings, camel and jeep safaris, private taxis for the Kuldhara–Bada Bagh–War Museum circuit, and the longer Longewala and Tanot border day.
For most travellers this is the practical middle: better equipped than a budget room, better value than a heritage property, and positioned to reach both the fort and the desert road without difficulty. Families, couples and small groups all fit comfortably.
- Modern, spotless rooms with strong AC
- Reliable hot water and working WiFi
- In-house restaurant and evening room service
- Travel desk for all desert bookings
- Free parking on site
- Fair pricing for the comfort level

I had a wonderful stay at Hotel Garh Adhiraj during my visit to Jaisalmer on 23 February 2026. The hotel was clean, comfortable, and beautifully maintained. The staff were warm, polite, and always ready to help, making us feel truly welcome. The rooms were spacious, and the peaceful atmosphere made our stay even more relaxing. The excellent hospitality and service made this trip memorable. I highly recommend Hotel Garh Adhiraj to anyone visiting Jaisalmer and would be happy to stay here again.

Very disappointing stay at this hotel. The bathrooms are stinking and can't get inside. No ventilation inside the room. The restaurant do not function and at 9 AM both the restaurant guys and front office guys are found sleeping. Had to venture out for breakfast. The owner spoke very sweetly at the time of booking and showed his true colour after checking in. Absolutely unprofessional. No ethics. No empathy. He is one of the biggest fraud I have come across. Please don't fall prey to hus sweet talks. He makes you cancel booking.com. Complete liar. I was not well and was sleeping after taking tablets. Although one of the guys agreed for late checkout at 2 pm, the other guy virtually pushed me out of the room. They are just money minded and lack any decency. They charge a huge sum and SERVICE AND ATTITUDE IS ZERO.THEY TELL ABSOLUTE LIES. ONE HAS TO BE CAREFUL. DO NOT REPEAT DO NOT STAY IN THIS ABSOLUTE UNPROFESSIONAL CHEATING STINKING HAVELI.

How to Choose a Hotel in Jaisalmer
Jaisalmer's accommodation splits along two axes: location (old city, new city, or desert) and character (heritage, modern, budget, camp). Rather than chasing the highest star rating, work backwards from your itinerary. If you plan to visit the fort at dawn and photograph the lanes, stay in the old city and accept narrow access and stairs. If you're travelling with elderly parents or small children and want lift access, parking and dependable air-conditioning, a modern city hotel serves better. If your priority is the desert, spend fewer nights in the city and more at the dunes.
What a Mid-Range Hotel Should Deliver
At the ₹2,500–₹7,000 band in Jaisalmer, a few things should be non-negotiable: air-conditioning that actually cools a sandstone room in March, hot water in the morning without a phone call, clean linen changed properly, WiFi that works, and 24-hour reception given the city's odd train timings. Anything beyond that — rooftop views, heritage décor, a pool — is a bonus rather than a baseline. When comparing properties, ask for photographs of the exact room category you're being quoted, not the property's best suite.
The Standard Jaisalmer Itinerary, Explained
Day 1: Arrive, rest, and use the late afternoon for Jaisalmer Fort's golden hour, followed by dinner.
Day 2: Sunrise at Gadisar Lake, then the haveli trail — Patwon Ki Haveli, Nathmal Ki Haveli, Salim Singh Ki Haveli — before the heat. Rest through midday. Sunset at Vyas Chhatri or Bada Bagh.
Day 3: The desert day. Bada Bagh and Kuldhara en route, the Jaisalmer War Museum on the Sam road, then the Sam Sand Dunes by 4:30 PM for the camel safari, cultural evening and overnight camp.
Day 4: Dune sunrise, breakfast at camp, return and depart. Add a day for the Longewala and Tanot border circuit if the itinerary allows.
Understanding Desert Safari Prices
Prices at the dunes are negotiated in the open, which creates confusion. Realistic ranges: a short camel ride ₹300–₹600; a guided sunset camel safari ₹500–₹1,000; a jeep safari ₹1,500–₹2,500 per jeep seating five or six; an overnight camel trek with camping ₹2,500–₹5,000 per person. Camp stays run ₹1,200–₹2,000 for budget tents, ₹2,500–₹4,500 for standard Swiss tents and ₹6,000 upward for luxury. Book through your hotel rather than at the gate, and get inclusions in writing — see our desert safari guide for the full breakdown.
Getting Around Jaisalmer
Autos handle the city; agree fares before starting, as meters are rarely used. For the desert circuit, hire a private taxi for the full day rather than paying per stop — it works out cheaper and removes negotiation at every site. Distances to remember: Sam Sand Dunes 40 km, Khuri 48 km, Kuldhara 18 km, Bada Bagh 6 km, Lodurva 16 km, Longewala and Tanot each around 120 km. See our taxi service guide for booking options.
Best Time to Visit
October to March. November and February are the most comfortable months overall. December and January bring beautiful days but genuinely cold desert nights near 5°C. Late January or early February brings the Desert Festival — camel races, folk concerts, turban-tying contests — and full occupancy across the city. April to June crosses 45°C and most camps close, though the city now has year-round flight access and a growing night-tourism scene built around stargazing and evening dune visits.
