Classic 350, Bullet 350, and occasionally the Himalayan or Meteor 350 depending on the vendor's fleet — confirm current availability at booking. Classic and Bullet models are the most common rental bikes in Jaisalmer; the Himalayan, if available, suits longer multi-day rides better given its stance and fuel range.

Routes Worth the Bike

Jaisalmer to Sam Sand Dunes (40 km): flat, well-paved, minimal traffic — the signature Enfield ride in this region. Time it for a late-afternoon departure so you arrive for sunset.

Jaisalmer to Khuri (48 km): quieter than the Sam road, passing smaller villages, and a good choice if you want the ride to be the experience rather than just transport to a destination.

Check the kick-start and electric start both work before leaving — desert dust affects electricals over time and vendors don't always catch it. Carry basic tools if riding beyond city limits; punctures happen, and phone signal thins out past Sam. Desert crosswinds affect a Bullet's stance more than a lighter bike, so throttle back rather than fight a gust. And carry more water than you think you need — an Enfield's engine heat adds to what's already a hot ride in shoulder season.

Valid motorcycle-endorsed driving licence (India) or International Driving Permit (foreign nationals) plus a home-country licence. Most vendors take a refundable card deposit rather than cash, and ID as security rather than your passport itself.

Best Time to Ride

November to February for the most comfortable temperatures — an Enfield's engine runs hot, and combined with 35°C+ shoulder-season afternoons, riding gets genuinely uncomfortable. Early morning departures are the sweet spot even in winter.
