Shrinath Desert Camp
Sam Sand Dunes, Jaisalmer
Experience the real desert life
Shrinath Desert Camp Jaisalmer is the camp we run ourselves, and the one every itinerary we build is designed around. Set at the Sam Sand Dunes about 40 km from Jaisalmer, it offers the full range of tent categories — from clean Swiss tents to air-conditioned luxury suites. A family, a honeymooning couple and a group of backpackers can all stay the same night, each at the right price for their category. Everything is booked directly through Shrinath Adventures, which means no middlemen, no gate negotiations and no surprises about what's included.
Because we operate this camp rather than reselling it, everything essential is in the rate: the sunset camel safari, the bonfire, the Manganiyar folk performance, the Rajasthani dinner and breakfast. The camel handlers, cooks and musicians are local families from the Jaisalmer district who have worked these dunes for years.

10:00 PM — Stars. Near-zero light pollution; the Milky Way visible on clear moonless nights.
6:30 AM — Sunrise on untouched sand, then breakfast and check-out by 11:00 AM.

What Makes Booking Direct Different
The most common complaint travellers report at Sam is discovering at the dune gate that the camel safari, the cultural programme or dinner wasn't actually included. Booking direct with the operator removes that entirely — you get written inclusions, a fixed rate, real photographs of the tent category you're getting, and a single phone number if a train is delayed or plans change.
Building Your Full Jaisalmer Trip
A camp night is the centrepiece, not the whole trip. Most guests pair it with two nights in the city for Jaisalmer Fort, the haveli trail at Patwon Ki Haveli, and sunset at Gadisar Lake or Vyas Chhatri. The drive out passes Bada Bagh, Kuldhara Village and the Jaisalmer War Museum. With an extra day, the border circuit to Longewala and Tanot Mata Temple is Jaisalmer's most affecting excursion.

Best Time to Visit
October to March, with November to February at its finest. December and January bring cold nights near 5°C — quilts and bonfires provided, jacket recommended. Late January or early February is the Desert Festival, the most spectacular week of the year and the hardest to book; reserve 6–8 weeks ahead. Camps close April to June when daytime heat crosses 45°C.
