KK Resort and Camp
Sam Sand Dunes, Jaisalmer
Experience the real desert life
KK Resort and Camp sits at the Sam Sand Dunes, roughly 40 km west of Jaisalmer, and occupies the middle ground most travellers are actually looking for: the complete desert programme — sunset camel safari, bonfire, folk performance, Rajasthani dinner under open sky — with resort-grade comfort waiting when the evening ends. Bookings and transfers are handled by Shrinath Adventures.
Accommodation combines permanent cottages and Swiss tents, all with attached washrooms, running hot water, proper beds and 24-hour power backup. Higher categories are air-conditioned, which matters in early October and March when afternoons still carry heat. The dining area serves buffet meals with pure vegetarian and Jain options prepared separately, and the open central courtyard hosts the nightly bonfire and cultural programme.
What a Night at KK Resort and Camp Looks Like
4:00 PM — Arrival. Welcome drink, tikka and garland, then check-in and evening tea with the dunes already turning warm.
5:00 PM — Camel safari. Ride out to the sunset point as the Thar shifts through gold, orange and crimson. Jeep safari available as an add-on for anyone wanting speed instead.
7:00 PM — Cultural evening. Manganiyar folk musicians and Kalbeliya dancers perform around the bonfire.
8:30 PM — Dinner. Rajasthani buffet — dal baati churma, gatte ki sabzi, ker sangri — plus North Indian and Continental dishes.
10:00 PM — Stars. With almost no light pollution at Sam, the Milky Way is visible on clear moonless nights.
6:30 AM — Sunrise. Untouched dunes, soft pink light, then breakfast and check-out.
Tent and Cottage Categories

|---|---|---|
| Deluxe Swiss Tent | Couples, first-timers | ₹3,200–₹4,500 |

Why Families Choose This Camp
The practical things decide it. Attached washrooms mean no walking across sand at night. Power backup keeps fans, lights and phone charging running. Food is prepared with children and elderly guests in mind, and Jain meals are made in a separate section rather than adapted at the last minute. For grandparents who'd rather skip the camel, a jeep transfer to the sunset point is arranged at no extra cost.
Getting Here
The camp is about 40 km from Jaisalmer city — an hour by road on a good highway. Most guests come out in the afternoon after a morning at Jaisalmer Fort and the haveli lanes, stopping at Bada Bagh and Kuldhara en route. Transfers can be arranged both ways; see our Jaisalmer taxi service for private day circuits.
Best Time to Stay
October to March. November to February is ideal: days around 22–27°C, nights cool and clear. December and January nights can approach 5°C — heavy quilts are provided but carry a jacket. Late January or early February brings the Jaisalmer Desert Festival, when camel races and folk concerts fill the dunes and every camp at Sam books out weeks ahead. April to June crosses 45°C and camps generally close.
Planning the Rest of Your Trip
A camp night works best as part of a wider itinerary. Two nights in the city plus one at the dunes is the standard structure — see our Jaisalmer weekend getaway or the full Jaisalmer tour package options. Travellers with an extra day usually add the Longewala War Memorial and Tanot Mata Temple border circuit.

We really enjoyed our stay at KK Resort and Camp. The rooms were clean and met our hygiene standard. What really deserves a special mention is the service and the team running the place. They are all extremely tolerant and very sweet. Mr. Rafiq who was our assigned room boy really did a great job at making sure that we were having a good time. He kept updating us on food being served, the safari and camel ride timings. Thanks Rafiq bhai. Overall, I would highly recommend the property if you are planning a stay at Sam Dunes.
